La champaca es un floral magnífico y complejo. Es un aroma rico, cremoso y embriagador, a menudo comparado con el jazmín o el ylang‑ylang, pero con un carácter totalmente propio. Presenta marcadas notas afrutadas de albaricoque y melocotón, un matiz único parecido al té, y un fondo cálido y especiado (clavo, madera de guayaco). Es menos indólica que el jazmín y más afrutado‑especiado.
